This box seems to be rather similar ?

With 2 bolts securing it, would put it into the 1920s, or possibly earlier ?
And for a James, which should make it easier to track down ...

If you squint a bit, this could be the same gearbox (??)

Hi Bill,
This is annoying. Your photos don’t want to download. No matter, I know what you have.
Firstly, what is the gearbox number? I expect it to start with an E. Yes?
Second, Albion didn’t make annual models. You can’t identify it by year. The best you can do is give it a general period. Yours was catalogued for bikes from about 1928 or so up into the mid 30’s or thereabouts’s.
Albion also offered the same box with a variety of clutches. Single plate, double plate and double plate with shock absorber. What clutch do you have?
Finally, the boxes also came with different chain lines, this arising from different main shaft lengths.
As you can see from the above there is only a slim chance that any replacement Albion box you find is an exact replica of one you have. Even if it looks the same. There is always work involved.
So, more information please. What is the full story?
Cheers
