1976Honda cd175
« on: July 13, 2007, 05:10:16 AM »
Hi everyone
Just joined after many months looking at the site.
I have recently bought a 1976 Honda cd175 and have started to scour the web for bits that may come in useful in the future.
Can anyone help with original exhaust pipes and mudguards please?
I have tried David Silver, Ebay, Armours, Gazelle etc and am struggling.
Any info on other bits would also be appreciated.
Thanks.
Louis

Genuine Honda CD175 exhausts are like rocking horse droppings. However patience is a virtue!
You should still be able to get pattern exhausts. These will come in two pieces as opposed to the factory one piece. However the pattern silencer will fit onto a sawn off Honda down pipe. Some patern silencers are seamed as well.
Predator used to list a 2into1 exhaust that exits on the near side of the bike.
Have you considered joining the VJMC? This can give you access to people that may be able to help you get really hard to find parts. However you must be a VJMC member.
Try autojumbles. I got a front guard quite recently, no holes or rust.
Good luck

Cheers Grizzly
Yes, I have recently joined the VJMC and am immersing myself in all the autojumbles, shows etc.
The bike is in lovely condition with only 11000 miles, 2 owners from new (last 31 years) and runs like a dream. I think 'geek chic' must be back in fashion!!
Once again thanks for your advice.
Onwards and upwards (quite slowly)!!

If only Honda parts will do, contact the VJMC Honda Marque Specialist. He has helped me more than once! You can find contact details in the VJMC club directory. Don't forget to quote your membership number.
My CD is a red 1977 A5 with 11500mls. I got it as a winter hack back in 1981 to save my GS1000 and if memory serves I'm the 3rd owner. It is being rebuilt but keeps getting put on the back burner as other projects get precidence.

Ditto Grizzly
My cd is also an A5 model and is 'candy ruby red' in colour.
Just for your information my brother is a paint sprayer by trade (with an absolute passion for paint jobs on motorcycles.) He is fully time served and can spot a cr*p job a thousand miles away!!
If you ever require a top paint job doing on your restorations consider getting in touch and I will put you in contact.
Regards
