Hi Marco,
All 4 stroke Excelsiors of around 1930 had JAP engines with Burman gear boxes.
I suggest you contact the Vintage Motor Cycle Club Library who can provide copies of all the sales catalogues for around that period so you can see what the different models look like.
As far as spare parts lists go you will probably have to get separate lists for JAP engines and Burman gearboxes, also available from the VMCC Libray.
You can contact the Library through their website, www.vmcc.net
The VMCC also have marque specialist in Excelsiors, plus a transfer service for tank and headstock  transfers you might find it useful to join the Club.
Cheers, Bob

;) it certainly looks like a Excelsior frame as the bottom of the frame under the motor have a fairly solid piece of steel with a slotted into it   the back wheel appears to be Excelsior although I'm not sure about the bend  in the saddle tube forks appear Excelsior as well very similar to a maximum frame
regards geoff
PS the oil tank looks genuine

;) fairly certain this is the Excelsior manxman frame somewhere about 1937 Excelsior's made something like 20 different frames for the manxman     the front forks look genuine the front wheel break backing plate looks correct not sure about the wheelif it is Manxman it should be a 21 in. wheel it looks to me as though you'have the making of a manxman   it would be interesting to know if under the motor there is a large cast lump with the front down tube to go into something shaped like the front of a ship
