Paint Removal

  Hi, I'm hoping to re-spray my bike but have trouble trying to remove the original paint from her, I would like to give her a deeper red and would prefer to strip off all the original paint from her first, As there have been a few botch ups from a previous owner in her past. Nitromors is not strong enough and I am thinking more inline with aircraft paint stripper,  :-\I do not want to use a hot air gun or sanding if it can be helped.
Any ideas ?

I am not sure whether they have changed the formula of Nitromors, or what type of paint you have on your machine, but in the past I have used it with a  metal scrapper & and completely stripped a frame albeit with a fair amount of elbow grease, then used fine emery to finish.

It perhaps took 3 goes to strip everything, you have to do it of course, in an well ventilated area & I was lucky in that I never smoked so, I was not in any imminent danger of  turning myself into a protesting Buddhist monk scenario!

I too think Nitromors ain't the same as it was. Weak as cat's pee now.

If I felt masochistic I'd use a wire cup-brush in the angle grinder, but if I was flush with money I'd spring for a gentle bead/nut/soda/whatever blast.

Even when I was young and hard up, Nitromors still left a horrible sticky paint mess on the floor and I can't be doing with that pain anymore..
