Underpowered is a relative term ?
If it gets you to work, better than walking !
Which is all they were intended for, petrol rationing and material shortages and parking shortages and all.

Couple of years ago, was in suburbia - when what sounded like a Grand Prix bike in full wail caught my ear.
I wondered what on earth this was going to be - and seemed like an eternity before it arrived.
A young lad on one of these razor-type scooters appeared, with a tiny tiny little motor powering it.
Must have been doing 20,000+ rpm - unsilenced ? - and only a few cc ??
Grinning from ear to ear. Mobility !!

was interested in what underpowered bikes people have had/rode etc the fire fly was worse than a alldays allon I had (crap) so that's personal experience , nothing relative about it

   so I understand , but ive never rode one just heard the rummers , another disappointment , swing arm late B31s , sold a 3ta when a lot younger and bought a B31 , very disappointed

on the up side I did buy the 3ta back years latter , now fitted t100 engine but totally ruined and will never go back to standard I think , goes well mind

My mother had a Corgi, it was too gutless to do a hill restart when she went for her test. May post photo later.

corgi right up there with the whisp , one of these was a belt drive i think (primmary ? ) , strange but the french velo solex was quite good running on the front wheel , the NSU was also OK

When I was 16 I had a go on a mates Fantic Chopper, it was probably buggered but that had about as much power as a slug with dysentery

It's funny that you should mention Fantics. I had a 'GT' and at 20:1 premix, it used to fill the silencer with black snot in about 1500 miles. Once that had happened, it lost everything until it had had a torch stuck down it.

I remember having to jump off and run alongside one day up Succombs Hill (1 in 4 but I used to be able to cycle it on my old Holdsworth).
