BSA Sloper 1930
« on: June 18, 2013, 05:14:31 PM »
Hi - New to bikes but I'm helping an elderly friend  (he's 75 today!!) to try and sort out his old BSA Sloper. Circa 1930. He has the log book but it was never converted to the new style and has been off the road for decades! The eng is not the original and the DVLA want the 'frame No' to comence registering it,  however neither he or I can see a frame no anywhere - patent No, yes.
Problem is we don't know where to look - the bike is in totally unrestored condition and hasn't moved in 40 years!!
can anyone guide me? The frame is composite anyway and seems made up of sections so its seems a tricky one.
I'm into classic Rovers myself hence him asking my help. Where else to go other than ask chaps who own vintage bikes!
Any help would be appreciated via this forum or by email. I'm not that good on navigating forums I'm afraid.... its an age thing!
many thanks in anticipation.

If you look on the BSA owners club website       http://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/Engine_Frame_Listing.html
You will see the engine and frame number listing starting with 1927 sloper frame number P2500 this will give you some idea of the sort of numbers to be looking for
All the best with it Goldy

Hi folks - Many, many thanks for all your combined help! Armed with the info we are waiting for a nice day then we can get it out in the sunshine and have a really good look, as his garage is really dark. Sadly no electric light!
At least we know what to look for as well as where to look! Once again, thanks lads - its appreciated and I'll let you know what transpires.....
