T100R electrical problem

Hi - just looking for some advice on this - I had been keen to take my 1966 T100r out for a spin after top end service.  I stuffed the new battery in but left the negative wire sitting high. Started ok but after a few dammed ramps I think Its shorted against the seat and blew a fuse. Not at first realising this I stuffed some foil round fuse to get home and ran for a few hundred yards then after a few more bumpy ramps it died again. A friendly householder gave me a 13 amp fuse - firstly got it started but then all electrics went again.  Cant see any burnt wire.  Would anyone know whats I am likely to have destroyed ! ?

Possibly nothing ?  If you are lucky.  And as long as the battery is still OK.

If you have a good poke around the battery connections and wires and fuse holder, you may be lucky and find something that has been lightly cooked  and lost its conductivity/connection. A good clean of all connectors around there, inc battery terminals and fuse holder may well restore the connection. The wire from the battery to fuse holder may be suspect too.
Check the power wire to the switch is still intact too, if nothing is obvious.

The short shouldn't have affected anything further downstream. Hopefully.
As long as the short wasn't further afield...

Hi R -Just wanted to confirm your suspicions re the wire to the battery from the fuse was shot and a new one was the simple answer, thank you.  Happy Easter to!
