1921 Bike ID please
« on: May 24, 2007, 09:53:59 PM »
I wonder if the experts here could help me identify the bike in this picture.  The picture is dated on the back 'Nov 1921' in case that helps.

I have enlarged a section showing the tank.  Apologies for the fuzzyness of the photo.

Thanks very much.

The bike is an American made Reading Standard. Sorry I can't tell you that much about the make. They were very early on the scene, before 1910, and faded away sometime in the 1920's.
They were built to the typical US formula. A big vee twin engine in a sturdy frame and intended to survive hard work on rough roads.
I'm sure someone can give you more specific information now you know the make.
Cheers, Bob

Thank you, Bob  :)  Someone did say to me that they thought the picture was taken in America, but I didn't think it was.  However, if the bike was a US model, it looks as if they may have been right.

I guess I'd better try looking up Reading Standard!

Thanks again;
Leni
