hello all and help wanted (triumph forks)
« on: December 06, 2009, 04:39:13 PM »
Hi guys I have a 1963 Triumph t100 iv striped down front forks they are one of the first ones with exterior springs but not fitted with shuttle valves, I have a Haynes manual and it shows assembly for new stanchions seals bushes etc but is not very clear on orientation of damper sleeves as on the strip down one was wrong ,but im not sure witch?
The damper sleeve itself is about 3 inches long with a section on one end about 3/4inch a tight slide fit on the stanchion the remainder is turned out leaving a gap between stanchion and sleeve, I would like to know witch way they go I have tried all local dealers and a few clubs but with no luck I have also discovered that one of the restrictors is incorrect (too small) so cannot be sure that sleeves are right ones but then again it wouldn’t be fun if it was to easy I live in hope that one of you nice chaps can shed some light thanks.

The tight end goes at the bottom of the stanchion.
