Hi Glacer,
How about a few photos of the gearbox??
Moss boxes were fitted to quite a few 20's bikes, but like sturmey/albion/burman
they come in a bewildering array of fitments and sizes  ???
I have a Moss hand book from the 20's , I got this to assist in the rebuild of the Moss for my Chater Lea
I will check what numbers, letters are on my boxes of bits tomorrow

Regards
John

Hi Glaser,
I have never come across anything that looks like your photo  ???
The book I have is for 3 speed types SL3s and SM3s
From your photo yours is more like the 4 speed??????
Some Moss boxes are remarkably similar to Sturmey Archer externally :o
BUT they do not have a crash second gear, the gears are constant mesh and the engagement is done with a sliding dog
I think I finally have all the bits to rebuild the one for my Chater Lea, I had to have some gears made and have the mainshaft ground, and the output sleeve (gear is splined on) spark eroded and a bush fitted
Hope the photos attached are of some help?
Regards
John

Hi Glaser,
The gearbox for my Chater Lea Supersports is the one in the top pic. SL3s,
this is the one with 4 spring clutch, the other has a single spring , identified by a long threaded end on the mainshaft
Can you let me know if you have any spares for this type?
The Moss for the Chater Lea one is a close ratio type

Regards
John
