I'll Bet ....
« on: February 11, 2008, 12:44:21 AM »
Hi There Guys,

I'll bet there's someone out there amongst all you experts that can look at this photo (taken in 1931 so I'm told) and Identify the old Single pot Side Valve Bike.

If this post works, the photo should be a 'thumbprint' that you click on to enlarge, I'm not into IT me  ???

If the photo idea fails .. I'll email the shot as instructed.
Please have a go and get back to me .. I'm trying to help another old biker with some constructive answers to his questions.

Cheers in advance, Stay Safe  8) Polar Bear.

A guess  .   I think the bike may be a BSA of the early twenties dummy belt rim brake on the front and the tank shape  are the points I noted.Anybody else got any ideas?.   good luck, ride safely .  Harry.

I agree, looks like a early to mid 20's 350cc Touring.

The registration is Portsmouth (that ties in with the naval uniform) and dates from 1924/25.

And it was taken on top of Portsdown Hill looking South probably near the Nelson Memorial, at 10.32 am.
OK, I made that last bit up..... :) but as there used to be regular commemorations of Nelson's life by the Senior Service, you can bet that's what these two skates are doing there.
