Since you said you could, here gos.

Looking for oem style hand-grips. Where is the best please to get some online?

Compared the some pictures that I've seen my handle bar brake and clutch is different. Mine look like todays style. The pics. show them backwards. Are mine wrong? If so what what I need to replace them?

What is the OEM specs. on the piston and rings? I have a great connection on getting new ones made if I had specs.

Thanks for the reply. But since I'm in the states I can't talk to most folks you mentioned. I'll do an internet search on VINTAGE REBUILDS.

Please check on the OEM specs. on any type of internal engine part. I have a great contact with a major engine parts mfg here in the states.

DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE IN USA !

RON FARTHING'S THE MAN TO TALK TO:-
www.ronfarthing.co.uk    or:-
e-mail info@ronfarthing.co.uk

THE MARSTON SUNBEAM REGISTER (PRE 1940 SUNBEAMS ONLY) info about club from:-
trevor@daviesnewport.f9.co.uk

They have copies of spec: sheets, spares etc.
and members that have links to the original factory.
(sunbeamland in wolverhampton)

Model 8 std bore is  70 mm , stroke 90mm.
I doubt if your piston is original so your rings will be different to sunbeam's own.

Thanks BEAMA for you help. I should have said I was in the states. My bad. I will probably be asking more question later on. I just pull her out of storage after many years. So loads of dust has built up. I will be spending the next few available days just cleaning her before any work is done.

I finally took the piston out. I have two casting numbers off it. First is HG405AM, also found 3238B. Anyone know who might have made this piston? The Hepolite number I've found doesn't look like it. But I could be wrong.

Hi BEAMA.
I think that this will be the first of a long list of questions, although I am not 100% sure whether this is pre-`38 or exactly 1938. My brother wants his pile of rust, oops, I mean Sunbeam, put back together again.
We`ve just shotblasted the frame...which one is the frame number ? There are all sorts of numbers....
Cheers
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
What model is it ? m8, m9 etc. or what is the engine number or capacity. is it a side valve  or ohv.
Sorry are need more info.sunbeam made motorcycles from 1912 untill 1937 then AMC took over production
until 1940 making there own versions ( high cam ) from 1939.So there are a lot of different numbers.
Sunbeam frame numbers are on the front bottom of the headstock and also on the top of the gearbox mount.

Hi Beama.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
We have just brought up the box of engine bits and a couple of boxfuls of rust !!
I am not sure of the cc...but it is ohv and we think 1938.
It hasnt got the large triangular timing chain cover, just pushrods and the elongated oval timing chain cover.
I think that the frame number is 26-1049 and the engine is stamped A 23 E 540.
Does that help ?
Cheers
Jeff
