Petrol tank sealant
« on: May 30, 2008, 05:28:33 PM »
Has anyone experience of using petrol tank sealant for lining the inside. My tank is not damaged just has surface coating of  rust. but I am interested to know if it's worth doing.

My tank was done in 1998, (it was weeping at the hand change mount under the tank) still no leaks or lifting of sealant. I used fine stone chippings ( fish tank gravel ) gave it a good shaking ( take out you petrol filters ! )and blew it out with an air line. Make sure its dry then seal it.
It worked for me

Sealant's a last resort for me; I wouldn't do it for surface rust.
What's wrong with a handful of nuts, half a gallon of paraffin and arm-ache?
