British Bikes / Villiers time line for engines
« on: April 09, 2017, 11:22:58 PM »
Hi all, I have been working on a timeline for Villiers engines and gee it is complicated!  I would just like to be able to "speak" the engine numbers and types.  It led me to thinking this has probably already been done so I ask the group if it has.

If not I would love to share what I have so far for comment and correction.

For the visually impaired I include a close up of the "rigid" modification.

Thanks all for your input. I'm not a newb and have rebuilt from scratch many bikes. My use of terminology came from others. As suspected these are little more than a spring with "spirit".
I will free the rear end from its rigid constraint and let free the uselessness of the original design.

No diagrams available?

British Bikes / "Jam pot" rear shock Excelsior Universal
« on: March 20, 2017, 10:34:03 PM »
Hi all knowledgeable members.

I am about to embark on Excelsior Universal 125 and I know nothing of the little rear shock/spring set up except that they are referred to by some as jampot. On my bike a bar has been welded in to make rear end ridgid. I would assume and dampening is shot.
Are these a standard type or brand and do they make kits?  I have manufacturing capability if needed but would love an exploded diagram or some advice before I start.

Thanks Paul

Will do. Did they import these to Australia as excelsiors as well as the rebadged Waratahs?

Will definitely check tank, can get the transfers here. Would it be a sin to just badge it Waratah without being sure?

I believe this to be an  Excelsior Universal with D10 villiers motor. They were also rebadged in Australia as a Waratah which is were I bought it.
Can anyone confirm how I could a) confirm what it is and b) if it could be a Waratah?
