Hi All, Thanks for the info. I'm still looking for numbers on them. I think you've got the era spot on, as he was actively on the road and tinkering with bikes about then. The Villiers gearbox had the gear change lever fitted 180 degrees out from where it's fitted now. I think he'd done that to stop it getting damaged. Do you think this could be a Seagull gearbox? Any idea what model BSA's the 2 later gearboxes could be?
One of the numbers shown on the last pic looks to be a V with either 88 or B8 or BB, Sorry they aren't very clear.
I'll look at them again this week and see if I can find more numbers.
