Japanese Bikes / handlebar/internal wire problem
« on: March 26, 2007, 08:39:17 AM »
I'm switching out the handlebars on my '75 CB360T to a flatter, clubman-style bar. I'm having two problems. The first is this: how do you get the throttle tube off the bar? There are two throttle cables - one goes over the front of the throttle tube and one goes over the back. I can't figure out how to remove one (or both) cables so I can remove the throttle (and I have to get the throttle tube off so I can pull the internal wiring out of the bars). The second question is: the old stock bars had the wiring for the horn, kill switch, hi/low, turn signals, etc internally routed in the bars. The new bars don't have the holes drilled for that, and even if they did, I don't think I could pull the wire through anyway. The control body/pod thing that all those switches are on fits tight on the handlebars so there is no room to get those wires out externally. Do I drill a hole in the controll body thing, or file an opening for the wire to fit through, or what?
Thanks much.
