Thanks Blue  :)

It has the 2.75 tyre and the direct light system that works pefectly...so U1.
I have no tool box or speedo but I have just aquired an original sales brochure for this and it states that the speedo was opitional and there is no sign of a tool box on the bike in the drawings.
Luckily the locals here are very helpful and are willing to go out of there way to help.
One guy even offered to take the kickstart off my hands for free...how nice (sorry but it stays with the bike I told him knowing that most parts are hard to come by.

Thanks for your help
Glynn

Identify these bikes! / Just what is it?

Hi there,

I'm all the way over in New Zealand and I'm trying to get the information together to get the pictured bike back on the road.

The bike has been stored for the last 20years and it's time for a restoration to take place...but before I do this I'd like to make sure that I can get it back on the road here in NZ.

I'm sure you are only to well aware of all the red tape and loops the politicians make us jump through to get these beauties back on the road for all to enjoy.

Having no information on this bike is proving to make things very difficult for me.

The previous owner passed about 3 years ago and took what information he had with him, know one else in the family knows anything about it.

Can you shed so light on what it is?

I have narrowed it down to what I believe is a 1950's excelsior
Universal
U1.

Kind regards and many thanks
