If this is normal then my next question is how do I use a timing light to check timing since the motor has to be running and it will be spewing oil??  The manual describes a static timing.  Does this mean I cannot use the timing light?

I am going to install points in my CL175.  When I removed the alternator cover to expose the timing mark, crancase oil started dripping out.  Is this normal or do I have a serious problem since the cycle has been dormant for about 10 or 12 years.
                           Thanks

Thanks for the reply and the schematic.  I think you are right.  The spigots on my carburetors appear to be on the same boss that has that screw that you mentioned but the spiots don't point down, they point towards the rear of the bike.  I am now convinced that they are there to drain the float bowl.  I guess I should just connect hose to them and point the hose downward or maybe just leave the spigots as they are and connect hoses to them in the event I need to drain the bowl.  Thanks again for your input.

Need help.  I have had both carburetors off my bike for approx. 10 years.  I  am finally trying to put them back.
i got everything back except for the spigot on each carb that points to the rear of the bike,  It looks like a vacuum spigot, but I don't know where the tube would connect to.  Any advice would be appreciated.
