British Bikes / TR6R Valve Adjustment
« on: August 08, 2007, 12:00:26 AM »
I would really appreciate any help or advice on this matter  - - either from a Triumph mechanic or from your personal experience.  I suspect that the same issue relates to all 650 unit construction twins.

I recently acquired a 1969 TR6R that is in excellent condition in most respects.  However, when I was attempting to adjust the valve clearance I found it impossible to get standard or even angled feeler guages into proper position for adjustments.

I assume that there is an easy way to ensure proper adjustment - - something like: turn the nut all the way down and back off 2 turns or the like.  Has anyone learned the secret?  Can you help this novice with what should be a simple and regular maintenance item.

Best regards.
