Wanted Bikes / 500 single wanted.
« on: February 06, 2008, 03:49:30 AM »
I am looking for a MSS,ES2, model9 or similar, basically a 500 OHV though I did consider a 16H and if the right MAC came along I would consider it.
I would prefer pre-war[girder/rigid].
I would like something that doesn't need a lot to be put on the road but if a big part[engine or frame] of the right bike came along I might well buy it, so basket cases would be considered.

Didn't you recieve an email from one of the admins in the last few  days?
There were infact two emails. I glanced at the contents but didn't bother downloading  either. The gist of the them was: "we can't use the freeforums.de" and "we are  trying  to get the  classicbikeforums domain name off the publisher" and "will try and get a decent paid for forum sorted."

I take it they will send out another mail when/if they sort anything.

British Bikes / Re: ee fitting triumph t140 barrels/pistons to a 6

Just open the crancase mouths.
If you want to use the 750 crank you need to have something like .052 thou ground off it, so the bearings are closer together.
It's almost 30 years since I was doing this stuff but it was really common.
A very common way of opening the crancase mouth was a flap wheel!! It was probably the same pople who fitted 750 cranks by grinding a 'tad' of the mains. I had a steel jig to hold the cases on my lathe and I bored them out, mates thought I was a bit flash;-)
