You could look to bring to B40 SS90 spec.

That will mean a new piston, larger inlet valve, bigger carb and different cam plus close ratio gears - its worth it.  Also fit electronic ignition - makes starting easier.

I have one in SS90 spec and it goes well

British Bikes / BSA C15 Starfire Racer

A question possibly for any USA based users of the forum.

Has anybody got a photograph or know of a link to a picture of a BSA C15 Starfire Racer.  This bike was produced for the US market only and just for one year 1963.

I would like to build a replica using some of the spares I have.

Any help appreciated

Simon

The rear sub-frame is bolted at the top however there is also a long steel bush on which the sub-frame pivots which needs to be driven out of the frame.  Heat the area first as the bush will be rusted in position.

Take out the two bolts in the swinging that attach the bottom of the rear sub-frame this will reveal the swinging are pivot pin – if you are luck it will just drive out with a hammer and suitable drift.  If it is rusted in the frame then apply heat before attacking with a hammer.

While not the best – try buying a copy of the Haynes Manual for BSA singles – it will give you the basics.
