Japanese Bikes / CB1100F Big ends and Yoshi can advice please
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:33:44 PM »
I know, it's the first time I have I posted, and then it's just 'cos I want something - can you forgive me, Yes?, good!

Having just got the CB1100F on the road for summer (my GT550 needs small ends so SORNed to do at my leisure), I now find the big ends have gone (knocking from 2500rpm up) - bunch of arse, I'd just got the ignition sorted! Anyways, I am gonna pull the big ends myself - you can get to them from the sump pan...

Sooo...

Any suggestions? I'm gonna leave the heads on, but drop the bike on its side and lift the frame off, a removable frame member helps. The rest looks fairly straightforward to me, and I know you will throw your hands up in horror, but being on a very limited budget, I hope only to replace those that are noticeably damaged.....

Secondly, while the exhausts off I thought I might refurb it (it's a Yoshi)...

The downpipes and collector have come up nice in Satin VHT, I have the badge off and wanted to pull and repack the baffles. I drilled the 3 rivets out, and it looks like the baffles should just pull out....

Nothing, not a thing, nada - can't shift 'em. So just to check - the baffles are removeable, and am I right in thinking that all bar the outer ally sleeve comes out. If this is the case I will just have to exert a touch more welly...

Oh, and any tips for when I bolt it all together..?
