Identify these bikes! / Re: C11 Head
« on: February 25, 2009, 09:22:36 PM »
Ahhh yes later model head would make sence the only problem i have now is the spacers... I couldn't find them in any parts brake down but was unsure.... the valves fitted seem to both be exhaust valves both ar marked ex i'm figuring that there the incorrect valves and stem length was a issue thats y the spacers were installed anybody know the correct length of valve a c11 used and the seat angle????

Cheers for the help.

« on: February 25, 2009, 06:20:58 AM »
Ok so question for those who know... in the photo below (aslong as it came out) is 2 heads one on the left is off my c11.... blown head gasket made me remove it.... the one on my right is one of 2 i have as spares both bought as c11 and look kinda correct but different as can be seen.... I have matching barrells for all heads but where I have the prob is is the one on the right a c11 head????

Rocker gear is the same valves seem the same although I havn't removed to confirm left hand head has 6 fins right hand has 7 is it a later model head???

the other thing is the left hand head where the Trunnion bolts down ther has been 2 washers/spacers fitted to lift the Trunnion would this be normal???

any help please.... twas sposed to be a quick freshn up and on the road.... that was 4 months ago a rebuilt wheel, rewire, rebuilt forks and more to go and summer is drawing to a close.

British Bikes / Push rod length
« on: March 25, 2009, 04:48:19 AM »
Ok so blown head gasket lead to a complete head rebuild on my C11.... one new guide reseat valves and skim the head.... what I found when stripping it down the trunion had 2 spacers placed under it about 2-2.5mm to raise it a little.... these arn't sposed to be there so in reassembly I decided to leave them out but have found that without them the push rods are so long they foul the rocker arms and leave no room for adjusting the rockers.... so a couple of Q's:

Anyone know the correct length for the push rods in a C11??? mine are 240mm overall???

Is there any reason to not shorten the push rods??? I know ppl with lathes that can remove 2.5mm no probs??? will the rods be case hardened???

Or shold I just replace the spacers and go for it the bike was a runner before with them it just blew a head gasket??

Other than the rods being incorrect for the engine can aybody think of a reason for the length problem???

Any help please summer is fast coming to a close and I havn't been able to ride yet.
