JAP 4B covers a lot of years, and specs, so depends on the year a bit.
Can't see it quoted in the specs anywhere.

Cooper F3 cars went to Manx engines, because it is mentioned the Manx puts out more hp than the 4B at the time (1950).  So you'd be looking at about 35 to 40 bhp (?).

i know very little about it only its 1950 and was supplied in a rotrax frame

hi lads

how many horses would a propperly sorted jap 4b put out
she started life in a speedway bike and i think the frame might be beyond it,so i was thinking of making a sprinter out of it

i should have mentioned that when i took it apart ther was heavily worn pieces of a heinz beans tin made into crude spacers .they were on the main shaft outside tge bearing .is there ment to be a spacer on the end of the main shaft?????

hi lads

ive just reassembled a burman box on a 1950 ariel 500 single ,a type 4b i think!,
but its grinding going into first and i cant figure it out .i found there to be play in the
main shaft which i thought could be something to do with it.

hi all

what is best way to mesh the quadrant and the pinion in a burman gearbox .its from a 1950 ariel VG .
a friend told me i might have to select a gear and then try to mesh it .
