please help, in about 1970, i got hold of an old moped, i'me sure it was a triumph whisper, (not sure) but it was bottle green, and had peddles, and a small engine, anyway i claim to have had the first sort of mountain bike in the world, why, well i was 11 at the time, and me dad woud"nt buy me a racer, (like all me mates had) " to dangerous: so i come accross this old moped on a debri some-where, and started stripping it down to the skeloton, with just the brakes, (both drum mind) and a bit springy saddle, and the peddles, the only downfall on my contraption, was the small (crank)the chain went round to drive the thing, when we went on bike rides to crosby & formby and that, i would always be laggiing behind, due to the wieght of the \thing/ and the small crank, one advantage was the stopping power, disadvantage catching the boys up, and being pulled by the puzzelled police at the time, (it was found to be legal) but it did give me legs like gerd muller (1966 west german footballer) but anyway, can anyone put a name on the first mountain bike in the world, any help most welcome. thank's chris gray, liverpool.
