British Bikes / norton filter
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:19:53 PM »
I need a little bit of help with the air filter on the norton, After getting a new battery for the starter motor (which works great by the way) the new one is a lot bigger than the old one and i am having a problem with the filter ,I'm putting new carb's on the bike now but they won't fit because of the filter, Do I need to put the filter back on or can I leave it out and cover the end's of the carb's in a mesh to stop anything going into the carb's
                                    thank's for any help

British Bikes / starter motor for a norton commando

well I got fed up with the last person to do the starter (2 brush to 4 brush) motor brushes I got it back from him ordered some longer tail's on the brushes and done it myself after quite a lot of fiddling about it work's, The only trouble is there is not enough power going through so I'll have to dismantle and put the other set of field coil's in,So my answer is if you can't do it have a try.
I thank you all for your help and advise and the photo's were a great help as well
                                    Once again thank's very much

I bought the 4 brush type took it too an auto electrian and he mad a right mess of it, He cut the 2 brush that fit onto the live post then he realised that he made a mistake and solderd it back together, then he could'nt get the 4 brushes to fit so he only put the 2 back in and i told him that is the same as what i already had so in effect he did'nt really do it,So i have one starter with 2 brushes and 2 brushes soldered together in my hand so i paid nearly £60 for 4 brushes and only used 2
