British Bikes / 1952 Royal Enfield Ensign 148cc two stroke
« on: March 06, 2015, 04:11:23 AM »
Hello, is there anyone out there who has split the cases on the 148cc Royal Enfield?  Is there a service manual or an article that covers the operation step-by-step?  I have couple of manuals but they do not cover it.

Thanks, Bruce

Yes, it looks like a simplex,  google it and you will see many examples to confirm it.  I see them on ebay and craigslist from time to time.

Hello, I have an early Ensign I bought at a yard sale here in the US.  The wheels and axles are made much like those found on bicycles.  I want to replace the bearings but have to get the axles free.  I'm just wondering, should I press them out?  If I can't easily get the axles free, I'm going to just clean the bearings thoroughly and repack them with grease.   Any suggestions or information are welcome.

British Bikes / Royal enfield Ensign Project in the U.S.

Hello. I'm new to the forum.  I have a Royal Ensign basket case.  I'm slowly finding parts and have identified through research, that it is a 1952.  I need fenders, cables and other details. and will post some more pictures of the progress.  It's nice to find a forum that is active.  I had joined some other bike forums with a very complex registration process, only to find most of the posts were years old.  I'm in Los Angeles, CA.
