Hi R, Thanks very much, it does help. As for the muffler that would be one of those Malaysian back yard specials. It has been changed a couple of times since the photo was taken. It now has a megaphone with removable end cone, sounds nice. I also fitted a modified Honda CT110 seat so as to comply with Queensland single seat registration. Once again that you very much for your help. MalK

British Bikes / AJS 350 Short Stroke.

Hi all, I have an AJS 350 which I purchased in Malaysia in 1981 while stationed there with the R.A.A.F. The trouble is I have never been able to find out the date of manufacture. All help with this would be greatly appreciated. The bike is an AJS 350 short stroke with a 74mm piston. I know because I blew a hole in the top of it, then searched for years to find one,but to no avail. I finally had one casted here in Australia. Engine number is 16/42348; frame number is A/84393. The engine has internal pushrods and it is fitted with a magneto. The bike was first registered in Malaysia in 1966. I am the third owner. It is a great bike I used as my daily ride for years but sadly it has now sat in the shed for a number of years as in need of a major resto. All help with a date of manufacture is most welcome. Thanks MalK
