European and Other Bikes / italian classic restoration/capriolo help
« on: January 29, 2010, 10:42:26 PM »
hi, can anybody help me with this?

im a big fan of vintagebike, and its always come up trumps, but my wife's cousin in south africa, has an old capriolo that he would like to restore;

now i suspect he will regret this, but he desperately is trying to find someone in europe/anywhere who (a) knows anything about these bikes and (b) might be willing to restore it;

i have emailed loads of clubs etc on his behalf, but not even a reply, so if anybody has ANY pointers at all, please get in touch, i would be very grateful;

dave

ps i will stick to 70's kawas

as a pretty serious ebayer, i think it is brilliant for finding scarce parts at (occasionally) really low prices, eg NOS heat shields for my Z1000, totally NLA from kawasaki and sourced at 20 quid for pair from US, result!

you have to know whats available and what isnt though, and market is very fickle, i only got ten quid for a pair of original Z1 instrument covers, people pay 30 quid for chrome replacements all the time, that flabbergasted me.

re bikes i'd say unless you have something really collectible like a mint Z1, the bids are really poor much of the time and having had good results here, if you arent in a hurry, use this site first with some back up ads in free mags such as motorcycle mechanics.

finally, if your bike is truly mint, wherever you advertise it, dont sell it short, there is a serious amount of old nails out there!

john browse in wrexham had a second hand system recently, not sure how much tho; his no is 01978 355556; of course you could buy my mint system for 3 grand, get an immaculate restored A2 with it and sell your own!
