Where is a good place to purchase a motorcycle in Bangalore?

I am an American planning a motorcycle trip from Bangalore to Delhi. I would like to purchase a small, reliable and efficient motorcycle, for under $2500 in Bangalore. (I would then hope to sell it upon arriving in Delhi).

Can anyone recommend a good place to look for a bike?

Are there any laws, procedures, rules or such, that I need to be aware of? (Title? Registration? License? Insurance?)

Any other advice?
