Help please!.......

I have recently inherited a Dayton Flamenco 175cc and would love to find out more about it including it's value etc but can't find anything on the net.  Can anyone throw any light on it for me? Thanks Sianie

Hi Sianie,
The only Daytons I know of were scooters made in England in the 1950's-60's. To my knowledge they were all powered with Villiers engines of various sizes.
Is yours a scooter or motorcycle?
A picture would be marvellous. The engine number and frame number are also of great help.
Cheers, Bob

Hi Sianie
The Dayton Flamenco had 174cc Villiers 2L Fan-cooled engine with electric starting and a three speed gearbox. It followed usual scooter design and was produced in conjunction with Panther and Sun so all three makes had a similar appearance. The Panther being called the Princess and the Sun Sunwasp.
The Flamenco had an easily detatchable rear end giving complete access to the engine for repair or removal.
Front suspension was by leading link. The Flamenco also had two storage compartments, the right one being lockable.
Dayton ceased production in the late 1960's.
I have two quite good pictures of the Panther and the Sun,but sadly not the Dayton. I have tried to send them as an attachment but they are both much bigger than the 100KB maximim size and I don't know how to reduce them. If you would like to see them send me a message and I will E-Mail them to you.
Sorry don't know anything about value!

Thanks for all your info.  Having been to collect the Scooter it looks like it might be a Dayton Albatros although the Registration Docs say it's a Flamenco (please forgive my ignorance if they are the same... :-[) I will get a photo uploaded in the next few days.  Any ideas on the best place to sell it?!?

You could try one of the classic bike mags or Old Bike Mart, if you have access to it.
A good alternative is E-Bay!
