Kreidler
« on: February 17, 2011, 04:01:20 PM »
Hi,

I've recently brought the following bike for restoration, however I'm lacking information on the bike.

I do however know it is a Kreidler and is dated within the 60's, the bike runs using a 50cc Minarelli engine, and I know this particular bike was raced in Ireland in 68 and 69.

I do however lack a lot of information and it would be much appreciated if you guys could provide me with any further information.

Thanks in Advance

Mmmm, this Kreidler is said to have come 2nd in the championship in 1962.

Definitely a family resemblance there.
Although obviously the motor is an interesting question.

Hi Both,

Thanks for the input, I may have been a bit vague with my previous description.

I believe the frame has been modified to fit the Minarelli engine, it also seems to have had a section taken out near the seat mount possibly to re-route the exhaust?

However do you have any information on the bike posted by R, as it defiantly seems to be similar if not the same as the original bike.

Thanks Again

I notice on U-Tube there is a video with a much later Kreidler with Minarelli engine - didn't watch it all to see if it actually showed the bike, but maybe there is some connection later on in Kreidler history ?
May explain an engine transplant if that is indeed what happened ?

Also notice on ebay this entry

Lotsa hard to find bits already provided !!
Interesting buy, bargain price.
And some keen bidding ?
Make sure you keep us updated with what you find out...

There is a Kreidler forum, in Dutch.
May get some info there, if can negotiate the language barrier ?
They probably speak english...

I don't know, if I'd bought a doubtful basketcase and wanted it identified, would only show the relevant bits for consideration. (And there is always the wife factor !).

I thought we did rather well ? - 50cc GP racing was somewhat restricted to a few specialist countries and makes...

I raced a Kriedler in Ireland in the 70s but I don't recognise that particular machine.  It must have been before my time as I never saw any bikes racing with those particular forks.
