norton commando interstate
« on: March 29, 2011, 04:48:10 PM »
Hi there,

First post on this forum.  Hubby has a 1973 interstate that he bought as a half finished project, coming along nicely but has hit a problem with the paintwork, can anyone help with the name or code of the colour it should be a darkish blue with silver graphics. There is no paint on the tank or panels for the paint shop to go by.

I don't know of any equivalent modern paint code to the Interstate 'dark blue'.

You could try RS Motorbike Paint: http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en/ Unfortunately their Norton Commando paint list is incomplete, and they don't appear to list the Interstate dark blue, but it could be worth asking? FD motorcycles 'do' paintwork, but I don't know if they supply matched paint to customers? http://www.fdmotorcycles.co.uk/
Alternatively, try MS motorcycles (John Critchlow) http://www.msmotorcyclesuk.com/ although primarily a Triumph paint specialist they may be able to help? Or, Mick Hemmings: http://www.mickhemmings.com/ Or, Norvil: http://www.norvilmotorcycle.co.uk/

I know pics don't help much, but this 750 must be pretty close...

If 850, will have twin fine pinstripes on the tank, and black instrument covers.
