Just used the kreem tank liner kit at the weekend for stripping the rust in my tank and then lining it to prevent leaks and further rust. Firstly the Acid bath seemed really good. My tank was really rusty with loads of loose rust, so i filled it with gravel, sprayed a bit of wd40 in it, sealed it and put it in a cement mixer wrapped in pillows and left it for a day running.
This got rid of most of the loose rust, but it was still very coroaded all over (apparently it hasn't had any fuel in it for 40 years!). I then sealed it up by making an aluminium blanking plate for one hole, then running out of patience and using wine corks for the rest, wrapped with duck tape. i filled it with water to see if there were any leaks - there were, so i taped these for now with more duck tape. I then filled it with the acid cleaning kit and left it for about 18hrs. Opened it the next morning and all the rust had been stripped back to bare metal - i was really impressed. Then washed it out with the acetone mix and then used the tank liner. the lining process took a long time and you need a well ventilated area (i did mine outdoors), dont look into your tank, it hurts your eyes!
Every 10 mins or so i would rotate the tank to line all the areas, and i kept doing this for about 3 hours. I then poured out the excess and left. It still smells like it is evaporating over 36hrs later, but i put a very thick coat on. maybe too thick. if i was doing it again, i would do a thin coat, leave it for 24hrs then repeat a couple of times.
have not leak tested it yet as i am waiting for it to cure. It looks like it has worked into all visible seams though.
It quite expensive - i got mine from ebay - came within two days, but i'm sure if you new your PH levels, you could probably find cheaper alternatives to the acid bath. It was stronger than your average white vinegar though. I managed to burn my arm with it, so wear gloves, and watch for splash back in the eyes.
