Hi,
Just purchased a Wassell 6 volt positive earth DC regulator (ww10221p) for my '59 Tiger 110. The device has a green, yellow, red and black wire coming from it. The green and yellow no problem as they connect to the green/yellow on the dynamo as shown on Wassell's wiring diagram and the Triumph diagram. So far so good. However, this is where I become a bit thick!
1) According to their wiring diagram their black wire goes to the negative on the battery via a fuse where as the black on the Triumph wiring diagram goes to earth.
2)Their red wire goes to the 'field coil' (what's that?) where as the Triumph wiring diagram shows a purple wire coming from the original regulator and which goes to the light switch and then to the ammeter. No sign of any red wire from the original regulator!
I think you've gathered that I am useless when it comes to electrics - we just don't get on!. Can anyone explain to me in SIMPLE terms where the black and red wires should be connected to in relation to the original Triumph wiring diagram, preferably from someone who has fitted one to the same/similar bike. You can email me direct on clive.logan@btinternet.com. Many thanks.
