Tightening crank nut on T140

Is it acceptable to lock the crank on a Bonnie through the TDC bolt hole in the upper crankcase to torque the camshaft and crankshaft pinion nuts? If so, I guess it's ok to torque the alternator rotor nut too.

No, the best way is to use a spare crankshaft pinion. Use it to lock the pinions by meshing the teeth together, eg put it between the exhaust / inlet camshft pinion and the intermediate wheel. I've seen people trying to lock the pinions with the use of screwdrivers, lumps of metal, all sorts of bodges, but this method is perfect.

Thanks T, I will have to borrow an old crank pinion but it's a really good idea.
