1957 AJS 600 Frame/Engine Questions
« on: March 30, 2012, 12:56:40 PM »
Hello I have an engine of a AJS 1950 AJS M30 (600cc twin). I do not have a frame though .
However I have the frame of a 1957 AJS M16 (350cc Single) . Can you please do let me know if I can use this frame for the twin engine?
Are they one and the same except for the engine plates? If now what are the differences?

Regards

Have you tried them to see if they are basically compatible ?

Studying the parts lists will show what is different, by seeing which parts are listed only for the single, or for the twin - but without actually trying it, unless someone has done it, it may be difficult to say.

As someone once said, if you use a big enough hammer and enough oxy, a V8 will fit into a mini minor...

It will fit but won't have a head steady bracket on the frame for the twin, which can be made. It probably won't have provision for the aircleaner through the seat tube.Just get the correct engine plates.I stuck a 650 engine into a rigid single frame with the right engine plates.
