Honda GB400/500 - are grey imports bad?
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:55:39 AM »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew much about Honda GB400's?

I am thinking about getting one as they look the part but are relatively newer (mid 80s).

I would want to use it as an everyday commuter - and I do mean everyday - 30 mins to work and back.

I dont mind getting my hands dirty to maintain or fix things and I take good care of my bikes.

What appeals to me most (apart from the styling) is that it seems a relatively simple engine (1 cyclinder, air cooled, carbi). So, perhaps the most I have to worry about is losing compression, or issues with the gears and carbi.

I would love to hear peoples recommendataions and comments about this type of bike.

Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks

Have you a picture of it?

I cannot think what one looks like!

Cheers

Hi melting dog
You should be ok with one of those; there are a few kicking about. David Silver at Leiston is good for parts.
Keep the oil and filter changed very regulaly and it should be ok. 4 valve head; quite high geared; happy 70-80 and about 110 top wack for the 500.
