Piston Ring 50mm X 2.5mm Villiers 1951 Monet Goyon

Hi, I am looking for two new piston rings, 50mm by 2.5mm.

They came from a Villiers 100cc, 1951 Monet Goyon engine.  I tried to attach some pictures but guess they were too big?

Does anyone know where I can get replacements from?

Just remember it is not a Villiers engine made by the Villiers factory. It is an engine made by the Monet Goyon factory under licence from Villiers. Monet Goyon made a good engine but don’t expect Monet Goyon and original Villiers parts to be routinely interchangeable. You’ll mostly be disappointed.
Making an engine under licence does not mean making a carbon copy. It means getting permission to use someone else’s ideas.

It may be quite hard to find the rings.  The piston actually measure 49.71mm. The rings do not have flat ends, but are bevelled at a 45 degree angle.  There is a brass divider in the piston groove at a 45 degree angle to stop the rings spinning.

I was hoping that if I bought 50mm rings, I can cut the ends down at 45 degree angles and reduce the size.  Is this possible?

I'd still try Cox & Turner. They have supplied me with some really odd rings in the past. Just need all dimensions.

They might even know if MG are different.

Yes,  the photos confirm my earlier remarks. A Monet Goyon engine with absolutely no original Villiers factory content.
Monet Goyon and Villiers had a good working relationship for many years. Monet Goyon started manufacture importing Villiers engines for their bikes and were very successful. So much so pressure was brought to bear so only French made engines were acceptable. Monet Goyon responded by obtaining a licence from Villiers to make their own version of Villiers engines. That is what you have, Villiers knowledge in a French package.
The suggestions offered are utterly practical.
Just stop confusing the issue by mentioning Villiers. Stick to Monet Goyon only.

Once again, thanks very much for your replies.

Vreagh, I rang Cox & Turner today and spoke to Kit in the piston ring stores. He suggested I send him the piston.  I will send it on Monday, so fingers crossed they can sort me out.

They were very helpful so a great contact. Many thanks and will let you know how I get on.
