Push rod length
« on: March 25, 2009, 04:48:19 AM »
Ok so blown head gasket lead to a complete head rebuild on my C11.... one new guide reseat valves and skim the head.... what I found when stripping it down the trunion had 2 spacers placed under it about 2-2.5mm to raise it a little.... these arn't sposed to be there so in reassembly I decided to leave them out but have found that without them the push rods are so long they foul the rocker arms and leave no room for adjusting the rockers.... so a couple of Q's:

Anyone know the correct length for the push rods in a C11??? mine are 240mm overall???

Is there any reason to not shorten the push rods??? I know ppl with lathes that can remove 2.5mm no probs??? will the rods be case hardened???

Or shold I just replace the spacers and go for it the bike was a runner before with them it just blew a head gasket??

Other than the rods being incorrect for the engine can aybody think of a reason for the length problem???

Any help please summer is fast coming to a close and I havn't been able to ride yet.
