Matchless used that style of tank back in the 20's on their Model V 500ohv model. Around about 1927 if I remember correctly.
You don't say what bike you have it on. What makes you think it isn't the right tank for your bike?

The tank is on a BSA Sloper.

Thanks for information i just thought that it might help someone with a restoration and could do a deal for a better sloper tank than i found and they are not easy to find here in New Zealand.
