hey guys, great site you have here.
i don't know if you can class my new wee 75 cb250 a vintage,
but its oldish and cool,
i got the bike for nothing in unworking condition
but only had to spend 2 days on the bike to get her to a decent running condition, just a few wiring faults a good cleanout of the carbs new oil a few new cables and she started 2nd go
im well stoked.
a great contrast to my zxr750 fighter
ill get some pics soon
i would like to repaint her and get her pack to original,
at the moment she has flames on the tank (which look fairly cool) but i think back to original condition is the way to go

hey heres the wee beastie



news .... a tappet came loose bounced around in the top and broke a rocker arm, bent the cam sprocket.
shes all back to gether now, with new bits but i cant get her started,
could i have put the chain on the cam 180' out?? as there is only 2 marks on the cam sprocket and a mark on the generator that you have to match up,
nothing hits when its turned over, but she doesnt wanna fire... grrrr,
i also replaced the float valves, so i might check that first

shes alive and running well
after stripping her down about 6 times and altering the cam
i discovered i hadnt bolted the bolt on the timing advancer
and she wasnt opening the contacts
what a dumb arse aye
on the plus side i can strip the top down and reassemble in less than 10 mins
ive got a bit of work to do with the carbs i think, as the revs hang, mmmm
any ideas on that??

Just a thought!
Before checking the sliders etc inside the carbs have a quick look at the throttle cable first.

i had a look at the cable, but its nice and straight has a wee bit of slack when its been released, i re oiled and it moves smoothly.
so i moved to the carbs on the bike i decided to check the diaphragms,
i did the right side first and it was perfect. still nice and supple i almost didnt do the left side thinking im wasting my time.
but pulled the top off and it had previously been repaired with some sort of clear rubber tape and it had a few more tears that wern't repaired.
so time for a new diaphragm.
had a look on david silver spares £33 f***in quid.
wtf ok ill ring a few places as surely that can't be right!!!
well i can tell you i was unpleasantly surprised, i got prices quoted of upto £78
and finally in the end i found this website

that i can get one for £31..   check them out if you need random carb parts
so looks like i have to spend that. it'll be worth it if she runs great after it, but gee,  not impressed with carb prices
i should almost ring my local dealer back in new zealand and see if he'll ship over to me.. (nz dollar is weak compared to the mighty pound )
