1977 honda  cb 750 help

ok i got   this bike  last  week  and it was  in  grate shape   but   when  i took  it   for  a  ride  i  got  about  20  miles   riding  at about  55 miles  an  hour   then  it  started  to   loose   engen  power   i  went  to the  side of the  road  and   the  engen  went  off . i tryed  to restat it  but  no  luck  after  about  5 min  i tryed  agan   it  started   right  back  up  oh  at that  time i had to  youse the  kick start .  then  about  10 miles  down the  road  it hapend agan . and  5 min later   it started  back  up agan  so i dont  know.  i know  i  need  to  change  the batery, oil. any other  segestions

Switch the petcock to reserve.
Sounds like a fuel issue and that is a good place to start.

I don't know much about Hondas, but it is is very similar to a problem I had with a Triumph.  After weeks of changing just about everything I could think of -just in case - I replaced the rectifier.  Never missed a beat in the 3000 miles or so since.
  I still don't understand why. The battery never went flat.  I can only assume 'leaking' AC when the rectifier got warm somehow messed up the coil ignition.
