triumph tunderbird 1960

my dad is rebuilding a 1960 thunderbird 6t bathtub,we seem to be having a few problems,is there any 6t thunderbird experts out there ?

Viewed from the rear, the rear wheel seems to be about 16 mm to the right of the rear frame loop so when the bathtubs are sitting on it they do not line up with the tyre centreline although the sprockets are in line ! Is this normal,any ideas ?

It sounds as if the wheel is incorrectly spoked. More/less dishing is required.
The wheels should be in line. Run a piece of string from the front wheel, tied and touching one front edge of the tyre/rim and hold at the rear tyre/rim edge. With the same size tyres the string should just touch all tyre edges with no gaps. Don't adjust so that the sprockets go out of alignment.

I would firstly remove the petrol tank and run a piece of string from the headstock down the centre of the frame, over the rear frame. Attach a small weight to the end of the string so it hangs vertically and taught. Viewed from the rear you can see whether the centre of the tyre is in the centre of the frame. Using this method you can also see whether there is any curvature in the frame, hopefully not.
If all is well with the frame, then the wheel offset has been built incorrectly.
