Hi.  Having wanted a Bonneville since I was 16, at the age of 44 I have finally bought a beautiful T140 1976.  This may sound stupid but I don't know how to check the oil!  I know where, but a friend of mine told me that I should run the engine before checking the oil.  Is this correct?  Can anybody help?  Also, is it OK to run it on unleaded?  Cheers!
