oil for primary chain case?

Hi

I've adjusted my clutch in line with the manual and found it easy enough, but its still slipping.

I've not removed the clutch/primary chain case yet, but have been told that the problem is unlikely to be a worn clutch, but more likely the type of oil I'm using.

I've been advised that 20 grade oil recommended for my primary chain case might be too thick and that automatic transmission fluid might be better.

Any thoughts on that anyone?

As I read from a previous post that your bike is a '68 model then you could try ATF in the primary case (this will not apply to '70-on models).

If the clutch still slips and tightening the clutch springs and adjusting the lift mechanism doesn't cure it then you will need to investigate further.

thanks for that reply. Yes it is a 68 bonnie.  

I have just tried ATF but it hasn't cured the problem.

I'll now take the primary chain cover off and see if I can spot the problem.  I'll be able to see the chain and tensioner as well.
