pre-unit Triumph cams
« on: August 10, 2010, 02:36:34 PM »
I am de-tuning both a 500cc and a 650cc pre-unit Triumph engines for soft road use. They were both fitted with E3134 cams which I propose to replace with milder cams. I have a selection of E1485, E3275 and E3325 cams. Could somebody please advise me what Models these cams relate to and if Inlet or exhaust. The E3325 has a similar profile to the E3134, but less lift. The other 2 look much milder.

Certainly-
E1485 is inlet or exhaust for a 1938/9 5T
E3275 same, for 1953-8 5T
E3325 same for 1955-8 TR5.

Though even with the 3134s the bike should still be pleasant to ride (unless you have high CR pistons and other mods done?)

Hi, as an update on the E 1485 cams. I now learn these were fitted to inlet and  exhaust on 1946 and 1949 models. I've just bought a DVD of 37 Triumph parts catalogues and manuals on ebay for £6.99. excellent value for money.
