Hi, stripped a Lucas competition magneto for a basic inspection and noticed there was no brush in the back of the points plate, whereas looking at a basic magneto with clip fitting pick-ups, there was a brush fitted. It does not look like a case the brush is missing on the competition unit as the face of the end housing on which the brush would rub, is rough cast and would destroy the bush in seconds. The basic mags have a nice machine face for the brush to run on. Is this brush purely fitted to facillitate a cut out system from the mag end cover ?
