Royal Enfield Frame No. 7186

I have just acquired an old frame, possibly a Royal Enfield stamped 7186 onhe left side steering head. I THINK it may be a model 'C' or 'WD/C' dated about 1940 can anyone help, using the frame number, to ascertain whether it IS a Royal Enfield, or if not what is it and if it is then what year and model, I will post some photos later when I can reduce them slightly,

Hi Dick,

I am currently trying to establish a register for the Royal Enfield WD/CO, so have quite a bit of knowledge about these frames.

Number 7186 has been issued to both the WD/C and the WD/CO models (in 1940 and 1944 respectively). The WD/C has the typical WD/C frame, whereas the WD/CO with that frame number would have had the so called type 2 frame.
