Burman gear-box
« on: March 07, 2014, 08:00:32 AM »
Hi,

A friend has a Burman gear-box that is not yet identified where it comes from. My understanding is it has reverse gear.

Does anybody know where this type gear-box has been used?

I have one also , I thought it was from a three wheeler van as I have the front end , girders and 8inch drum brake  , and this g/box came with the same lot .

Raleigh Industries built Sturmey Archer gearboxes - so they are unlikely to be fitting Burman boxes ??
There were many such vans back then ?

There is a similar thread on a similar gearbox a couple of years ago by the forum owner here.
It was suggested one such gearbox was postwar even from its numbering.
Are there numbers on this gearbox ?
Hopethishelps.

AJS used them late 30's according to a spares list from Burman I saw, but it doesn't tell for wich models.
AJS also made cars, but I do not know much about old cars.

Jos, France.
